Bedford-Nostrand Subway Renovation

Delineating circuits investigates the role contingency plays in the circulation of transit hubs and how to introduce new systems of way-finding both spatially and graphically. Utilizing the site, Bedford-Nostrand on the crosstown G-line in Brooklyn, an intensive analysis of users and program could take place at this residential station and provide a platform for testing new forms of intuitive movement through the stations. Dissecting the areas of needed attention, the design focuses of providing a set kit of pieces that in the future could be applied to all stations. Addressing lighting, vertical circulation, vestibule layout, and the overall material schemes in relation to the line, all became key parts to the reinvention of NYC’s Subway system.
